2015 Day 5: Life Interrupted-Part II

On this day a year ago, our family life was changed.  A LOT.  FOR THE BETTER! On this day last year, our children and grandchildren gave us a precious gift—Ozzie.

We had lost our last dog a few months earlier and both my husband and I were surprised at the empty hole that we felt.  We had rescued two puppies 13 years ago.  We found these two cuties on our driveway having been dumped by some person.  And we took them home and named them Mac and Millie.  Mac had died the year before and Millie died in April.  I had been looking around for a dog.  I looked at breeders as well as rescues but had not found  “the one”.

Meanwhile, unknown to either of us, our children were searching and with the help of our grandchildren found the most adorable mini Golden Doodle.  They looked at many puppies before finding T.H.E. O.N.E.   They debated the name and ended up with Ozzie–as in the 1950’s TV series Ozzie and Harriet.

And then they surprised us with him.

From the start, he was A.D.O.R.A.B.L.E!!!  He was fluffy and sweet and loved to cuddle up and lay beside us.  The other thing that was terrific about Ozzie is that our children had arranged for him to spend two weeks with a dog trainer before we saw him.  So he came with skills!

Ozzie has now passed the one year old mark.  He is even cuter today! He follows me everywhere.  He sits outside the shower and waits for me to get out. He goes with me to the bathroom. He cocks his head when I talk to him and soon he will probably answer me!  He loves to lay beside me or my husband on the sofa or in a chair. He has NO idea that he is probably too big for that.

He is the first dog we have ever had that loves to sleep on the bed when I am reading.

He rides in the car with us.  He goes out to eat with us because we have a ton of restaurants in our town that have sidewalk seating. So everyone takes their dogs with them.

Ozzie has two “cousins”.  One is Zoe- a Snoodle (nearest the stove)and the other is Tilly-another mini Golden Doodle (in the middle).

So this “interruption” in our life has been glorious.  Ozzie-you are the best!
